Wall Niche Ideas
When space is in short supply, look between the studs! Wall niches are a great way to add extra storage.
Just to give you an idea of wall niche sizes, in most houses, the studs are placed 16 inches apart. Additionally, since most studs are 2x4s, the depth of the space in between the studs is about 3.5 inches.
A niche with open shelving is a relatively easy DIY project that you can get done in a weekend. This AI generated picture gives you an idea of how much extra storage a wall niche can provide.
However, the down side to open shelves is that you see everything. You'll likely want to make sure that whatever you plan to put there is relatively attractive.
Keep in mind that you can always purchase attractive bottles and transfer things like lotion, soap, cotton balls, etc. into containers that are not only beautiful, but functional as well.
Here are a couple of pretty dispensers. Many of them come in different color options and even different patterns! The one that I have in my own bathroom came from Etsy and I get compliments on it all the time!
STYLISH SOAP DISPENSERS
If you're anything like me, open shelving and I don't get along. Are you the kind of person that throws things into the closet when guests come over and just shut the door?
Out of sight, out of mind, right?! I'm guilty of that too.
Have no fear! You can do the same exact thing in your bathroom! By creating a wall niche in between the studs and turning it into a cabinet by adding doors and drawers, you can hide everything away!
